Stanley Makes a Friend One day, I was walking home from a long day of work when I saw a small animal moving out the of the corner of my eye. It was laying in my front yard. I thought it was preposterous that anyone or anything would dare to cross my fence. Once I got closer to my yard, I realized that it was a cat. I made eye contact with it, expecting it to immediately flee, yet it stayed right where it was. I was furious. I approached the cat and told it to scramble. However, it was as though it didn't understand my motions or hand gestures; it was puzzled. I realized that it was rather sweet and didn't really pose a threat to me, so I left it alone and hoped that it would be gone by the morning. When I looked out of my window the next morning, it was laying down in the exact same spot. I went outside and looked into it's sad eyes. I decided to keep the cat and make it my companion. I named him Harley. A Dangerous Adventure One day, I was hiking in the forest when I came along a beautiful baby deer. I wanted to get a closer look at it, so I slowly began to approach it. As soon as the deer saw me coming, it took off and ran further into the forest. However, I was determined to get a picture of it. I chased the deer for what seemed like a mile until I tripped and fell into a humongous hole in the ground. It was deep and dark, I could hardly see the light at the top of the hole. I called out for help, but I remembered that nobody could hear me since I was in the middle of the forest. Soon enough, I called one of friends to come get me. It seemed like an eternity, but finally, my friend Danny arrived. He pulled me out of the hole with a rope and took me home. That night, I promised myself that I would never go hiking alone ever again. Shooting Hoops My friend Marvin and I went to go play basketball one day at the local neighborhood court. I was a lot shorter than Marvin. He was 6'1" and I was 5'8". He could easily dunk the basketball and it made me very jealous. I tried and tried, however It just didn't seem possible for me. Everyday, I got a little bit more discouraged. I was about to give up until one day, Marvin told me to not care about it so much. I realized that he was right and that I was obsessing over it. About a week later, I thought that I would try to dunk again. However, this time I did not put any pressure on myself and I made it first go. ![]() Up Up & Away One day, I decided to go to the local fall festival. It was an annual festival, and a fun one at that. I played many arcade games and ate lots of cotton candy. At one of the games, the Toilet Toss, I won a pink balloon. I instantly loved it. However, the balloon was huge. It was at least twice my size. Later that day, the wind blew while I was still holding my new balloon and I felt my feet lift off of the ground. Before I knew it, I was already 25 feet in the air. I never lost that balloon. Stanley Hard at Work
The other day at work, I received some great news. I work for an architecture company named Perkins + Will. Recently, they just got a new dump-truck and I was put in charge of it. I was ecstatic. I immediately started using it to move a pile of rocks. However, after about only five minutes, one of the small parts on the inside of the truck had gotten something stuck in it and it stopped working, I had already broken the new dump-truck. I was devastated and couldn't bring myself to tell my manager. Instead, I left the work sight and never came back.
