Stanley Makes a Friend One day, I was walking home from a long day of work when I saw a small animal moving out the of the corner of my eye. It was laying in my front yard. I thought it was preposterous that anyone or anything would dare to cross my fence. Once I got closer to my yard, I realized that it was a cat. I made eye contact with it, expecting it to immediately flee, yet it stayed right where it was. I was furious. I approached the cat and told it to scramble. However, it was as though it didn't understand my motions or hand gestures; it was puzzled. I realized that it was rather sweet and didn't really pose a threat to me, so I left it alone and hoped that it would be gone by the morning. When I looked out of my window the next morning, it was laying down in the exact same spot. I went outside and looked into it's sad eyes. I decided to keep the cat and make it my companion. I named him Harley. A Dangerous Adventure One day, I was hiking in the forest when I came along a beautiful baby deer. I wanted to get a closer look at it, so I slowly began to approach it. As soon as the deer saw me coming, it took off and ran further into the forest. However, I was determined to get a picture of it. I chased the deer for what seemed like a mile until I tripped and fell into a humongous hole in the ground. It was deep and dark, I could hardly see the light at the top of the hole. I called out for help, but I remembered that nobody could hear me since I was in the middle of the forest. Soon enough, I called one of friends to come get me. It seemed like an eternity, but finally, my friend Danny arrived. He pulled me out of the hole with a rope and took me home. That night, I promised myself that I would never go hiking alone ever again. Shooting Hoops My friend Marvin and I went to go play basketball one day at the local neighborhood court. I was a lot shorter than Marvin. He was 6'1" and I was 5'8". He could easily dunk the basketball and it made me very jealous. I tried and tried, however It just didn't seem possible for me. Everyday, I got a little bit more discouraged. I was about to give up until one day, Marvin told me to not care about it so much. I realized that he was right and that I was obsessing over it. About a week later, I thought that I would try to dunk again. However, this time I did not put any pressure on myself and I made it first go. Up Up & Away One day, I decided to go to the local fall festival. It was an annual festival, and a fun one at that. I played many arcade games and ate lots of cotton candy. At one of the games, the Toilet Toss, I won a pink balloon. I instantly loved it. However, the balloon was huge. It was at least twice my size. Later that day, the wind blew while I was still holding my new balloon and I felt my feet lift off of the ground. Before I knew it, I was already 25 feet in the air. I never lost that balloon. Stanley Hard at Work
The other day at work, I received some great news. I work for an architecture company named Perkins + Will. Recently, they just got a new dump-truck and I was put in charge of it. I was ecstatic. I immediately started using it to move a pile of rocks. However, after about only five minutes, one of the small parts on the inside of the truck had gotten something stuck in it and it stopped working, I had already broken the new dump-truck. I was devastated and couldn't bring myself to tell my manager. Instead, I left the work sight and never came back.

My close-up photo makes the statement that sometimes it is good to enjoy the simple things in life. 2. How do you hope the close-up photo makes the viewer feel? I hope my close-up photo makes the viewer realize that it is easy to find joy in life. 3. What props did you use? For my photos, I used a camera and a small branch as my props. The branch acts as something for the slinkachus to sit on and is a nice detail. 4. What mood does your photo convey? My photo conveys a sense of unity and contentment. 5. If you had to shoot again, what would you do differently? If I had to shoot again, I would choose a more aesthetically pleasing background. 1. What is the statement that your close-up photo makes?
My close-up photo shows that relaxation is good for your health. 2. How do you hope the close-up photo makes the viewer feel? I hope that my close-up photo makes the viewer rethink if they are too stressed out and need some time to themselves. 3. What props did you use? I used play-doh to make the pool and floats and water to fill it up. 4. What mood does you photo convey? My photo conveys a mood of happiness. 5. If you had to do the shoot again, what would you do differently? If I had to shoot again, I would make the background simpler and more appealing to the eye in the first two photos. 1. I hope that my close-up makes the viewer feel reflect on their life and if they are getting too wrapped up in something. 3. What props did you use? If you had to shoot again, what would you do differently? If I had to shoot again, I would have chosen a better background. 1. My favorite photograph is the third one because of it's dark lighting and bird's eye view angle.
2. The mood that this photo conveys is as if it's the middle of the night because of the dark lighting that the camera flash created. 1. My favorite photo is the one where the light is is on the right side because the image is very sharp and it castes a nice shadow.
2. I think photo #5 conveys a mysterious mood because of the lighting. 3. When I held the light source directly behind the egg, it made the photo very dark and created too much contrast. If I were to take a photo of someone outdoors, I would make sure that the light wasn't directly behind them. 4. When I held the light source directly above the egg, it whitened out too much of the photo, which might be the same outcome if you took a photo of a person around noon. This would not be a flattering photo because it would make it too bright. 5. When I put the light source beside the egg, it created a large, oval shadow. 1. Which of your pictures do you like the most?
My favorite photo is of David in mid-air because I think that he looks really cool. 2. Did you experience any difficulties while taking the pictures? Yes, it was very hard to take a photo of someone sliding down a railing because it was difficult to make it look like they were moving fast. I was able to solve this problem by using the panning technique. |
